Can I still file under the new laws?

Our Washington bankruptcy lawyers are frequently asked whether or they can still file under the new laws.  In truth, our analysis indicates that most people are affected very little by the changes in the bankruptcy laws, most of which went into affect in 2005.

In most cases, the answer remains YES!  You will still need to qualify under the federal and Washington bankruptcy laws, which now has a specific "means test".  If you do, however, you can generally discharge credit cards, medical bills, torts, and other debts, just like you have always been able to in the past before the new laws took effect.

We are Washington bankruptcy attorneys who assist good people throughout the King County, Pierce County, Snohomish County, and Thurston County.  Bankruptcy is chance to make a clean break from the paralyzing monthly cycle of debt in which so many of our clients find themselves.  Our Washington bankruptcy lawyers hear stories every day about hard working people who for a variety of reasons are now struggling.

One of the most important ways that we can help is by stopping your home foreclosure.  If your house is facing a foreclosure sale, or, if it may be soon, we may be able to assist you in saving your home.  If you qualify for a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, we can stop your home's foreclosure sale by filing your petition prior to its sale.  Our Washington bankruptcy attorneys help hundreds of homeowners throughout Western WA save their house every year.
